Stanley Wallace Ahrends

Stanley Wallace Ahrends, 90, of Mountain City, died peacefully in hissleep on June 13, 2018. Loving husband of the late Mary NaveAhrends, devoted father of James W. Ahrends and the late Linda A.Ahrends, dear grandfather of Heather E. Ahrends (Christopher D.Ware, Jr.), and loving great-grandfather of Christopher D. Ware, III.Stan was a graduate of the University of Nebraska, earned hisMasters degree in Nuclear Engineering at North Carolina StateUniversity, was a United State Air Force fighter pilot in the KoreanWar, and went on to a successful career as a nuclear engineer,retiring from the Department of Energy (Oak Ridge) in 1987. Maryand Stan retired to Mountain City, where Stan raised Black Anguscattle and Mary ran Hidden Acres Bed & Breakfast for 6 years prior toher passing in 1994.The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 1:00pmat the First United Methodist Church, 128 North Church Street,Mountain City, TN. A service in celebration of Stan’s life will follow at2:00pm at the church, military honors will be held by the JohnsonCounty Honor Guard following the funeral at the Sunset Memorial Park .The family requests memorial donations be made to the JohnsonCounty Senior Citizens Center, 128 College Street, Mountain City, TN37683.   Arrangements are being handled by Hux & Lipford Funeral Home of Mountain City, TN.
