Dennis Keith Burgess, age 68 of 300 Madron Lane, Mountain City went home to be with the Lord on May 28, 2018 in the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Mountain Home, TN. Survivors include his wife, & soul mate Kate Eastridge Burgess, daughter, Meghan Burgess Hensley and son-in-law, Andrew Hensley. Grandchildren: Jordan Burgess, Katey Marshall, Grayson Hensley, and Liam Hensley. Father, Keith Burgess. Sisters: Linda Sluder, Monet Gentry, and Karen Anderson and husband Terry. Brother: Brent Burgess and wife Donna. Several nieces and nephews, who were very much loved. Dennis was preceded in death by his Mother, Kathleen Vanover Burgess, sister Ingrid Burgess McComas, and nephew Robert Gentry. Dennis served in the U.S. Army, having fought in the Vietnam War. Dennis passionately loved his family, especially his grandchildren and his daughter. He enjoyed a simple life, and loved the outdoors, gardening, shopping for antiques and “treasures” at yard sales and flea markets, and collecting Indian artifacts. Dennis was a kind hearted, generous, gentle soul who was like and respected by everyone who knew him. He was always giving and sharing with others; his produce from the garden, eggs from his chickens, or anything he had that he thought someone could use. He loved unconditionally and will be greatly missed by family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 2, 2018 at 11 am from the Charles B Hux Memorial Chapel, of the Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with Dave Allen to officiate. Military Honors to be accorded by the Johnson County honor guard. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to cancer research or to Melissa Gentry, for local rescue DOG facility.
