Sara Ann Bower

Sara A. “Sally“ Bower, age 78, of 220 West Hill Crest Drive, Mountain City, TN passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at The M.D. Anderson Medical Center in Houston, Texas. She was born May 27, 1939 to the late William Kirk Arnold and Audrey Lawton Arnold. In addition to her parent’s she was preceded in death by her husband William Bower who passed away in 2010, also her sons Thomas Bower and David Bower, and a brother William Arnold.She is a 1957 Graduate of Canfield High School and a 1961 Graduate of Ohio University where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She was a member of the Mountain City Presbyterian Church where she was also worked with the food pantry and served faithfully as an Elder. Mrs. Bower loved playing the piano, she loved sports, and helping others in the community teaching G.E.D. Classes. She also taught in the Johnson County School System for over 30 years. She had also taught in New Jersey before moving to Tennessee. She is survived by; Sons James A. Bower and wife Susan Baytown, Texas. William W. Bower Knoxville, Tennessee. Sister Mary Jo Donley, Columbus, Ohio Grandchildren Stephanie Bower, Elizabeth Bower, Robert Bower, Benjamin Bower, Thomas Bower, Sarah Bower, Bill Bower, Jake Bower, Katie Bower, Jimmy Bower, Patrick Bower and Ethan Bower. Great Grandchild Charlotte McGrath. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins, also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted for Sally at 7:00 pm. on Tuesday April 3rd 2018 in the Charles B. Hux Chapel of Hux & Lipford with the visitation to be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Graveside service will follow on Wednesday at 10:00 AM.
