Alfred Smith Wood

Alfred S Wood, age 90, of 1290 Campbell Road, Mountain City, Tennessee went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at his home. He was born August 14, 1927 to the late John Francis Wood and Mary Allie Farthing Wood.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandparents, Joseph L Wood and Mary Ellen Walker and Joseph E Farthing and Polly Ida Harmon, a sister, Ida Rebecca Ward, a brother, Joseph Carroll Wood. Alfred was a retired school bus driver with the Johnson County School System and was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church. Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Shirley Parker Wood, daughters, Karen Snyder and husband Larry and  Lisa Haynes and husband Doug, sons, Kenneth Wood and wife Marie and Dwayne Wood and wife Rachel, one brother, Edsel Wood, grandchildren, Stephanie Snyder, Mary Downing, Wayne Trexler, Mary Wood, Becky Wood, Michael Cress and Matthew Kirby Wood, great grandchildren, Linus and Issac Downing, numerous nieces and nephews also survive. A funeral service for Alfred will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2018 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of the Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with Pastor Gale Hartley officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4:00 p.m. prior to the service. Music will be provided by the Bethany Choir. Graveside service and interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Larry Snyder, Larry Wood, Doug Haynes, Wayne Parker, Matt Kirby Wood, John Wood, Wayne Trexler, and Victor Ward. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 1290 Campbell Road, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
