Kay Nichols, age 72, of 9786 Hwy 67W, Butler, TN, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at her residence. She was born January 08, 1945 in Iaeger, WV to the late Larkin Riffe and Willie Murphy Riffe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Riffe; a sister, Loretta Hatfield and a grandson, Evan. Mrs. Nichols enjoyed quilting, sewing, and building doll houses. She was a member of the Rainbow Mennonite Church. Those left to cherish Kay’s memory include her husband of 47 years, B.R. (Bob) Nichols; a daughter, Pamela Thomas and husband Richard of Salem, NJ; one stepdaughter, Elaine Nichols of Mountain City; a son, R. David Nichols of Knoxville, TN; five brothers, Ronnie Riffe, James Riffe, Steve Riffe, A.Gene Riffe, and Larkin Riffe. Eight grandchildren, one step grandchild, two great grandchildren, one step great grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive. Special friends include; Freida Hall, Stella Proffitt and Henry Murphy. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel with visitation from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm. Gary Gambill and Larry Denny will officiate. The graveside service will follow the funeral service at the Sunset Memorial Park.
