Mr. Aaron J. Runyon, 91, of 1030 Chestnut Drive, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2003 at the James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center. A native of Davey, West Virginia, He was born to the late Joseph Albert Runyon and Victoria Bishop Runyon on December 5, 1911. He was the 7th Great - Grandson of Vincent Rongnion, who was a French Huguenot who fled to America in 1665 and was among the early settlers of New Jersey. Mr. Runyon attended school in Davey, West Virginia and in Butler, Tennessee, and was a welder and pipe fitter. He was a member of the Dyson Grove Baptist Church, and a very proud Navy Veteran who served in World War II. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Elizabeth Runyon, age 92; Two Sons, Richard Ayers, North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, and Joseph Runyon, Dayton, Tennessee; One Daughter, Donna Laws, Jonesborough, Tennessee; One sister, Sybil Brooks, Tazewell, Virginia; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Services for Mr. Aaron J. Runyon, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2003 from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Woods to officiate. Military Graveside Services will follow at the Phillippi Cemetery. Pallbearers will be men of the First Freewill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2003 at the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel.
