A.D. Grindstaff Jr.

A.D. Grindstaff Jr., of 996 Stout Branch Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2006 following an extended illness. He was born on September 27, 1927 to the late Dan and Lillie (Shull) Grindstaff. In addition to his parents, A.D. was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (Proffitt) Grindstaff; two brothers: Bob Grindstaff and Don Grindstaff and one sister, Hazel Wyatt. A.D. was a farmer and a former Federal Crop Insurance Adjuster. He was also a former Johnson County Commissioner and former Chairman of the Board for the Farm Services Agency of Johnson County. A.D. was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and had served as Treasurer. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-laws: Penny and Wayne Vaught and JoAnn and Charlie Cutlip; one son and daughter-in-law, Benny and Linda Grindstaff, all of Mountain City, Tennessee; two sisters: Ruth Grindstaff and Rosa Ward, both of Mountain City, Tennessee; three grandchildren: Blake Grindstaff, Josh Vaught and Kim Hampton; three great grandchildren: Travis Grindstaff, Dakota Grindstaff and Logan Hampton, all of Mountain City, Tennessee and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for A.D. Grindstaff will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2006 from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bruce Simcox and Rev. Carl Swift officiating. Music will be under the direction of Karen Ward. The family will receive friends from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. prior to the Services Wednesday, at the funeral home. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2006 from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Terry Matheson, John Brookshire, Junior Maze, Danny Grindstaff, Jim Stout, Sam Cress, Odell Guinn and Ernest Tester. Honorary Pallbearers are: EG Brookshire, Roy Bartlett, Earl Shull, Robert Cress, Fred Cox and Bill Shull. At other times, friends may call at the home's of children: Penny Vaught, 1314 Stout Branch Road; Benny Grindstaff, 738 Stout Branch Road and/or JoAnn Cutlip, 3150 Hwy 91 N, all in Mountain City, Tennessee 37683. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pine Grove Baptist Church, 4180 Hwy 67 W, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
