Albert Will "Bill" Gambill

Albert Will “Bill” Gambill, age 72, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at his residence. He was born July 30, 1943 to the late Henry Gambill and Opal Arnold Gambill. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his father-in-law Herman Adams. “Bill” was a deacon of First Christian Church and also taught Sunday School. He was a former employee of Mountain City Police Department and Johnson County Sherriff’s Department. He was the first president of the Johnson County Jaycee’s. He is currently on the Johnson County School Board where he has served for the past 22 years. “Bill” was also a Cattleman. He loved watching football, both the Tennessee Volunteers and the Johnson County Longhorns. He enjoyed fishing, drag racing, and NASCAR.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Brenda Adams Gambill, two daughters: Joyce Travis and husband Steve of Leesville, LA., Lesia Fields and husband Christopher of Elizabethton, TN, one son; Henry Will “Billy” Gambill, II and wife Desiree of Johnson City, TN, two brothers: Earl Gambill and wife Mary Ann and Sonny Gambill and wife Gail, all of Mountain City, and special friends: Frank Osborne, Bill Souder,Tommy Warren and Dean Kirby. Seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Mr. Buddy Zuercher officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside service and interment will follow from the Phillippi Cemetery. Pallbearers are: Dean Kirby, Terry “Skillet” Gambill, Dana Perry, Donald Greer, Mykael Perry, and Kenneth Perry, II. Honorary pallbearers will be: Johnson County School Board: past and present members, Ken Caswell, Russell Lewis, Bob Sutherland, Frank Osborne, Bill Souder, Kenneth Rowman, and Elmer Adams.
