Alden Porter

Alden "Sonny" Porter, age 71, of Trade, TN passed away at his residence after an extended illness. He was a son of the late John Alden and Carolee Elizabeth Canter Porter. Sonny was a member of Centerview Church of Christ. He enjoyed four wheeling and working in his wood shop. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Bill and Bud Porter; and sisters Helen Shull and Kay Isaacs. Survivors include: his wife of 51 years, Marie Porter of the home; two sons: Johnny Porter and Scotty Porter, both of Trade, TN; three sisters: Nancy Price of Lenoir, NC; Carolyn Harrelson of Waycross, GA; and Phyllis Pennington of Mountain City, TN; three brothers: Rev. Eddie Porter of Shady Valley, TN; Jerry Porter of Trade, TN and Harry Porter of FL; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and best friends Steve Reece, EJ Reece, Dan McFadden, Bud Osborne, Richard Walsh and his dog Roxie. Funeral services for Alden "Sonny" Porter will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2013 from the funeral home chapel with Preacher Max Greene officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside service and interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013 from Brown Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Joey Porter, D. J. Porter, Mitchell Reece, Mark Wilson, Sam Wilson and Bobby Ray Dowell, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Lane Miller, Ray Jenkins, William Porter and Austin Roark. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your American Heart Association.
