Alfred Leonard Hughes, age 66, of 586 Eldridge Lane, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2005 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on May 21, 1939 in Mitchell County, North Carolina to the late Carson and Bonnie Peterson Hughes. In addition to his parents, Alfred was preceded in death by one step daughter, Dorothy Diane Elliott. He was a former employee of Tweetsie Railroad, Blowing Rock, North Carolina and of Camoirano Mushrooms of Hockessin, Delaware. Alfred enjoyed working in the outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Lewis Hughes of the home; three daughters: Mary B. Hughes of Montana, Marie Price of Oxford, Pennsylvania and Elene Brehm of Oregon; four sons: Al Hughes of Washington, Jody Hughes of Oregon, Michael Huges of Oregon and Lee Hughes of Toughkenamon, Pennsylvania; four sisters: Joyce Johnson, Geneva Novlet, Edna Juy and Doris Horton, all of Oxofrd, Pennsylvania; two brothers: Morris Hughes of West Grove, Pennsylvania and Gene Hughes of Oxford, Pennsylvania; sixteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and beloved dogs; baby and boy.
