Alice Faye Campbell, age 60, of 320 E. Fifth Street, Wilmington, Delaware, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2004 at her residence following a lengthy illness. A native of Roda, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Thomas B. and Anna Belle Hall Campbell and was also preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis South and four brothers: Roger Campbell, Ricky Campbell, Billy Campbell and Leroy Campbell. Alice spent some time in Tennessee, where she loved the hospitality of the people and the mountains, but had lived most of her life in Pennsylvania and Delaware. She was a Christian. Surviving are three daughters: Connie Proffitt of Mountain City, Karen Lopez and husband, Javier of Smyrna, DE, and Alicia Campbell of New Jersey; two sons: Charles "Sam" Proffitt of Wilmington, DE and Darin Proffitt and wife, T., of Bear, DE; two sisters: Geraldine Swiney of Mountain City and Lois Campbell of Wilmington, DE; three brothers: Beatie Campbell of Johnson City, TN, Kenneth Campbell of Knoxville, TN and Michael Campbell of Wilmington, DE; three granddaughters: Angelica Lopez, Bianca Lopez and April Proffitt and a grandson, Cody Proffitt. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p. m. Tuesday from the chapel at Hux-Lipford Funeral Home. Rev. Ray Slemp will officiate. Pallbearers will be friends. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p. m. on Tuesday prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Phillippi Cemetery. At other times, the family will be at the home of her sister, Geraldine Swiney, 368 Spear Branch Road, Mountain City.
