Goldie "Alice" DeHart, born on May 1, 1943, in Paint Bank, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her children on March 15, 2026, in Parkesburg, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Caton DeHart. She was a cherished woman whose favorite joy in life was spending precious time with her family and loved ones.
Alice's warmth and care extended beyond her immediate circle, reflected in her heartfelt love for cooking and her tender nurturing of flowers. These activities brought her great comfort and joy, allowing her to express her loving nature in simple yet meaningful ways.
She was the beloved daughter of the late John Worley Norris and Nannie Mae Church Norris, whose memories she held close throughout her life. Those left to cherish her memory are her devoted children: Steven DeHart of North East, MD, Ruth Weeks of Quarryville, PA, Theresa Potts (Christopher) of Gap, PA and Patrick DeHart of North East, MD; two sisters: Wilma Dowell of Mountain City, TN and Earlena Rivera of Calvert, MD. As well as eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Wilson E. Weeks and her siblings Robert "Bob" Norris, John Worley "Joe" Norris Jr., William Calvin Norris, and Marie Porter.
Her family meant everything to her, and she found her greatest happiness in their company. Sunday family dinners and her homemade hot dinner rolls were always a hit!
Alice’s life was a testament to the beauty of love, family, and the comfort found in everyday moments. Those who knew her will remember her gentle spirit, sense of humor and the kindness she extended so freely. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the family she so deeply adored.
A funeral service for Alice will be conducted at 2 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with Bubba Cannon to officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 PM to 2 PM prior to the funeral service. Burial will immediately follow in the Brown cemetery.
