Obituary for Alice Garland Shupe Alice Garland Shupe, age 99 of 124 Frank Shupe Lane, Butler, TN passed away peacefully at her home on Sept. 22,2010 with her family at her bedside. She will celebrate her 100th birthday with the Lord on Nov. 23,2010. Mrs. Shupe was a lifelong resident of Butler, TN a daughter of the late William G. and Cordelia Arney Garland. In addition to her parents, her husband of 67 years Frank Shupe, an infant son, 2 other sons, a daughter in law, 2 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 4 sisters, and a brother Rev. Burl Garland preceded her in death. She was a member of the Little Doe Baptist Church, she loved to hear her grandchildren Emily Shupe and Channie Cretsinger sing hymns. Mrs. Shupe enjoyed gardening, flowers, and canning. A special thank you from the family to Miranda Snyder. The family also wishes to thank Dr. Floyd Barker, the in home medical staff and the McFarland medical staff, W.J. Campbell, Lynn Snyder, Billy Jack Stalcup for his many hours playing the banjo and guitar, she enjoyed his beautiful music and loved playing the guitar. Survivors are, Daughter, Barbara Shupe, of the home, Daughter, Emaline Nichols and husband Edward, Longview, Wash. Daughter, Janet Rupard and husband Dean, Laurel Bloomery, TN Son, Frankey Shupe, Butler, TN Son, Glen Shupe, and wife Wanda, Butler, TN Son, Benny Shupe and wife Mary, Mountain City,TN Son, Mitchell Shupe, and wife Elwanda, Johnson City, TN 22 Grandchildren, 23 great grand children, 14 great great- grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Garland Shupe, will be conducted at 8:00 PM Friday September 24, 2010 from Our Hero's chapel of the Johnson County Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Woods and Rev Leonard Fletcher officiating. Music will be by the Fletcher family. Pallbearers will be, Ronald Shupe, Brian Shupe, Stephen Shupe, Brad Shupe, Jeff Rupard, John Rupard, Caleb Cretsinger, and Austin Click. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Floyd Barker, W.J.Campbell, Ross Arnold, Truett Pleasant, Rubin Stout, and her many friends. Graveside service and interment will be Saturday, Sept 25, 2010 at 11;AM at the Phillippi Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 PM Friday prior to the service.
