Alma Proffitt

Alma Proffitt, age 89, of Glenbridge Health Care, Boone, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2005 at the Watauga Medical Center. A native of Johnson County, Tennessee, she was born on March 14, 1915 to the late Wiley Thomas and Ida Rebecca Proffitt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Alma was a homemaker and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Coretta Proffitt of Mountain City, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Lola Mae Pardue and Jennie Lee Moody. Funeral Services for Alma will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2005 from the Hux-Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Stout and Rev. Bill Worley to officiate. Music will be under the direction of Joe Simcox. Graveside Services and Interment will follow from the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Junior Maze, Bob Cress, Jim McCulloch, Steven Roark, Rocky Brown, D.L. Brown and Larry Shelton. Honorary Pallbearers are: Earl Shull and Woodrow McElyea. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to Services at the Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
