Alma Ward Worley, age 98, went home to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 7, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Worley; her parents, Charles and Maude Ward; and her sister, Hazel Ward Shull.
Alma was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for approximately 40 years. She was a retired school teacher, teaching at Pine Grove, Brownlow, Watauga Academy and Johnson County High School. She enjoyed studying her Bible, reading and working with her flowers.
She is survived by one son, Bill Worley and wife Carolyn; one granddaughter, Mindy Shaw and husband Jeff; three great grandchildren, Jackson, McKenzie and Jared Shaw; one nephew, Tom Worley and wife Mary Ann.
Due to inclement weather the committal service will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Derl McCloud and Rev. Mike McNutt presiding. Music will be by Joe Simcox. Interment will be held later in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Lee Greever, Steve Marme, Mike Fritts, Sonny Gambill, Eric Huyard, Blake Atwood and Dan Lipford. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Wilson, Frank Tester and Bill McGuire.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, TN 37683.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Johnson County EMS and Amedysis Health Care for the kindness shown to Ms. Worley and her family.
