Anita Mae Garland

Anita Mae Garland, age 42, of 152 Whaley Town Road, Fish Springs Community, Butler, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2007 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Avery County, North Carolina, she was born on June 1, 1964 to the late Burl and Hattie Davis Icenhour. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Loretta Sisk. Anita loved spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Mountain City, Tennessee and had also attended Little Milligan Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Jessie Garland, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law: Charlie and Stacie Jennings of Mountain City, Tennessee and Mack and Amanda Jennings of Villas, North Carolina; one step-son, Jessie Owen Garland of Butler, Tennessee; three sisters: Mary Snyder, Pearl Heaton, both of Mountain City, Tennessee and Connie Austin of Delaware; three brothers: Jim Icenhour, Jerry Icenhour, both of Mountain City, Tennessee and Gauner Icenhour of Greensboro, North Carolina; one grandson, Charlie Isaac Jennings; one step grandson, Darren Woods; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and many special, dear friends. Funeral Services for Anita Mae Garland will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2007 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel with Rev. Nick Bradshaw to officiate. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2007 from the Phillippi Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Johnny Garland, Danny Sisk, Malcom Sisk, Bob Brown, Kenny Ray Wilson, Jason Bryant, John Jennings and Mack Jennings. Honorary Pallbearers are: Jerry Icenhour, Sonny Jennings, Ray Jennings and Tom Jennings. Everyone is asked to assemble by 10:30 a.m. on Friday, at the funeral home, to go in procession to the cemetery.
