Anna Mae Hodge-Dowell

Anna Mae Hodge Dowell, age 79, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Holston Valley Medical Center. She was born October 5, 1936 to the late Jacob Hodge and Mollie Stanton Hodge. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Butler Dowell, four brothers: Burt Hodge, Lee Hodge, Clyde Hodge, and Ralph Hodge; and two sisters: Laura McQueen and Bonnie Guinn. Anna enjoyed gardening and flowers. She also liked to quilt and go for walks.

She is survived by: two daughters: Anita “Sissy” Hammons and significant other Charles Dixon and Rebeccia Dowell and significant other Keith Clawson, both of Mountain City; two sons: Johnny Dowell of Mountain City and Chris Dowell of Trade; two brothers: Ray Hodge and wife Nola of Hampton and J.S. Hodge of Butler; six grandchildren: Sarah Hammons, Cleve Main, Stephanie Dixon, R.J. Main, Natasha Potter, and Keisha Taylor; seven great grandchildren: Kaleb Hammons, Dahlia Hammons, Quinton Potter, Riley Potter, Lena Hammons, McKenzie Potter, and Ulrich Main. Special friend Pearl Thomas and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel with Rev Roy Dowell and Rev. Teddy Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside service and interment will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 29, 2016 from Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Jimmy Trivett, Keith Clawson, Charles Dixon, Kaleb Hammons, Randy Cornett, and Michael Dixon. Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. John Whitlock and Glenn Hall, Jr.
