Atrie E. Potter, age 82, of Mountain City, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 21, 2004 at the Watauga Medical Center in Boone, NC. A native of Johnson County, TN, she was born June 28, 1921 to the late Thomas and Polly Stout. She was the wife of the late Joe N. Potter, whom she spent 20 years of marriage with. Atrie was a housewife and was of the Baptist faith. She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Thelma Potter, Pearl Howard, Mina Stout, her twin sister, Elvia Winters, an infant sister, Mary Stout and brothers: Will Stout, Roy Stout and two infant brothers: John and Edward Stout. Survivors include one sister, Verna Main of Mountain City; a special niece and caregiver, Vioda Brown and husband Barton of Rising Sun, Maryland; several other nieces and nephews; and special friends, Nancy and Bill Hughes of Mountain City. Funeral services for Atrie E. Potter will be held at 8 p. m. Tuesday, May 25, 2004 from the chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home. Mike Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p. m. Tuesday prior to the services at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 10 a. m. Wednesday from the Sunset Memorial Park. Family and friends will be pallbearers. Dr. John Whitlock is an honorary pallbearer. Memorial donations may be made to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, TN 37683.
