Barbara E. Byers

Barbara E. Byers, age 66, of 919 Medical Park Drive, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at the Mountain City Care Center following a lengthy illness. She was born in Roseglen, Pennsylvania on July 17, 1939 to the late Earl C and Dorothy Wilver Deckard. She was a former secretary for Sprint/United Telephone. Barbara was a former member of the United Methodist Church of Millerstown, Pennsylvania where she was also a member of the Church Choir. After moving to Mountain City, Tennessee, she became a member of the Valley View United Methodist Church and Secretary of the United Methodist Women. Barbara is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Scott Woods of Mountain City, Tennessee; two sisters: Audrey Smith and husband Rev. Paul Smith of Emlenton, Pennsylvania and Carol Thebes of Lawrenceville, Georgia; one brother, Marshall Deckard of Lewistown, Pennsylvania; one granddaughter, Hannah Woods and one grandson, Ethan Woods, both of Mountain City, Tennessee, step-mother, Margaret Krebs and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Barbara E. Byers will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2006 with Rev. Paul Smith to officiate, from the George P. Garman Funeral Home, 606 North Front Street, Liverpool, Pennsylvania. Graveside Services and Interment will follow from the Liverpool Union Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Family and Friends of Barbara. Honorary Pallbearers are: Staff of Mountain City Care Center and Dr. Susanne Shine. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2006 from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel, 300 W Main Street, Mountain City, Tennessee and from 6-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, 2006 from the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool, Pennsylvania. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683. At other times friends may call at residence of Barbara's daughter, Cheryl Woods, 104 Roan Street, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
