Obituary for Bart T. Morefield Bart T. Morefield, age 80, of 919 Medical Park Drive, Mountain City went home to be with the Lord Saturday, September 11, 2004 at the Johnson County Health Center following a lengthy illness. He was a native of Johnson County and was born August 24, 1924 to the late Jake and Mary Poe Morefield. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Morefield, two Grandchildren, Joseph Bart Morefield and Sheena Morefield. He was a farmer and loved to sing and play his guitar with his family and friends. He was a U. S. Veteran having served in the Korean War from l952 until l955. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist in Mountain City. Survivors include his wife Stella Denny Morefield, of Mountain City Care Center, A daughter; Cindy Taylor of Mountain City, Two sons; Jack Morefield, Mountain City and Mike Morefield of Granite Falls, N. C. One Brother; Ed Morefield, Catoosa, Oklahoma; Six Grandchildren; Jimmy Ray Taylor, Billy Morefield, Michael Taylor, Michael Clay Morefield, David Taylor and Deirdre Morefield; Three Great Grandchildren; Joseph Morefield, Natalyi Taylor and Emily Taylor, several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Bart T. Morefield, will be held at 2:00 P. M. Tuesday,September 14, 2004, from the chapel of the Henson Funeral Home with Rev. Denton Hart and Rev. Gary Norris to officiate. Music will be under the direction of the Laurel Creek Boys. Military Graveside services and Burial will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard at the Phillippi Cemetery following the funeral service. Pallbearers will be: Jim Taylor, Jack Morefield, Billy Morefield, Jimmy Ray Taylor, Michael Taylor and David Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Mike Morefield, Dr. Buddy Clayton, Doug Hornsby, Dr. Jim Shine, Cliff Denny, Ed Morefield and the Nursing Staff of Mountain City Care Center. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the funeral services on Tuesday. At other times friends may call at the home of Jack Morefield, 566 M. Phillips Road, or at the home of Cindy Taylor, 223 Pedro Shoun Lane, Mountain City, at any time. Henson Funeral Home is serving the Morefield family.
