Ben L. Greer

Ben L. Greer, age 93, of 1066 Greer Road, Trade, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, January 7th 2004 at the Watauga County Medical Center following an extended illness. He was a native of Johnson County. He was born August 4th, 1910 to the late, John Greer and Omie Mahala Greer. Mr. Greer was preceded in death by his wife, Lorne Price Greer who passed away in 1986, three sons, Carl Greer, Howard Greer, and Ralph Greer, a daughter, Geraldine Greer, 3 sisters, Vannie Mahala, Lillie Williams, and Nola Greer, 5 Brothers, Tom, Glenn, Luke, Art, and Lester Greer, 2 Grandsons, Jason Davis and Shannon Roark. He enjoyed building houses and cabins. Mr. Greer is survived by 3 daughters; Mary Sue Peck, Mountain City, Tennessee Anis Christine Pleasant, Hampton, Tennessee Tina L. Allen, Mountain City, Tennessee 3 sons; Bill Greer, Mountain City, Tennessee Wayne Greer, Mountain City, Tennessee David Greer, Mountain City, Tennessee Special Friends Buster Fritts, Ray Greer, and Frog Reece. 31 Grandchildren, 46 Great Grandchildren, 8 Great Great Grandchildren Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Funeral Services for Ben L. Greer will be held at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, January 10th 2004 in the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Woods to officiate. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Kerry Gentry. The family will receive friends 6:00-7:45 p.m. prior to services. Graveside Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 11th, 2004 from the Greer Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Michael Parlier, Freddy Potter, James Allen, Scotty Stout, Marty Norris, Cody Marlow, Benjamin Stout, Joey Allen, and Joey Davis. Honorary Pallbearers; Ray Greer, Virgil Greer, Larry Stout, Earl Greer, Billy Joe Mahala, Jerry Don Sluder, Buster Fritts, and Roy Mahala..
