Mrs. Bertha R. Arnold, age 83, of 2662 Crackers Neck Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, September 7, 2008. She was a daughter of the late William Clyde Proffitt and Carrie Mae Morefield, in addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; Glendon Arnold Jr. also a sister; Ruth Grindstaff. Mrs. Arnold was a Homemaker and a member of the Vaughts Gap Baptist Church.

Mrs. Arnold loved gardening and spending time with her Grandchildren. 

 

Survivors include: two daughters: Doris Pratt and husband Bob of Mountain City, TN; and Peggy Tester and husband Jim also of Mountain City, TN; two sisters: Gertrude Tester of Mountain City TN; and Wilma Rhymer also of Mountain City, TN;

five grandchildren: Howard Stout, Michael Stout, Jeannie Tester, Jeff Tester, and Todd Tester, all of Mountain City, TN; three great grandchildren; Dustin Tester, Blake Tester, and Cailie Tester. And a special friend Betty Kate Neatherly, of Mountain City, TN;

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha R. Arnold will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2008 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Johnson and Rev. Benny Greene officiating. Pallbearers will be Steve Rhymer, Steve Hodge, Harold Garland, Norman Tester, John L. Neatherly, Jack Arnold, and Eddie Forbes. Honorary Pallbearers will be Members and staff of the Johnson County Rescue Squad. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the services at other times the family will receive friends at the residence of her daughter Doris Pratt 2662 Crackers Neck Road, Mountain City, TN;
