Beryl Andrus Cowan

Beryl Cowan, age 90, 1899 Hwy 91 North, Mountain City, TN passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014 at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Cowan was born in Rochester, NY on August 10, 1923 to the late Stewart C. Andrus and Edna Frances Welch Andrus. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bernard L. Cowan and a brother, Lloyd Andrus. She was a member of the St. Anthonys of Padua Catholic Church. She was a retired nurse. She was a United State Navy Veteran having served in World War II. She was a member of American Legion,VFW and Knights of Columbus. Her hobbies included sewing and embroidery. Survivors include her children: Michael S. Cowan, Sarasota, Florida; Patricia F. Cowan, Rochester, NY; Rita Ann Cowan, Mountain City, TN; and Timothy R. Cowan of Independence, Va. Four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one niece also survive, as well as special friends Marian Marinelli, Millie Jantzen and Shirley Brahaney. Funeral Mass will be conducted on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Anthonys of Padua Catholic Church with Father Dennis Cress officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Following the Funeral Mass the family will receive friends at the home of Ms. Louise Shoen. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The St. Anthonys Food Pantry.
