Bessie Moody

Bessie Vines Moody, age 90, passed away August 22, 2024 at the  Mountain City Care and Rehabilitation Center.  Bessie was born in Carter County to the late Alvin Vines and Polly Presnell Vines.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Moody in 1994; 4 brothers, J.B. Vines, Dewy Hicks, Orville Hicks and Johnny Hicks and a sister, Callie  Dugger.  Bessie was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer  Renee Hodge Barber and a grandson, Michael Gene Hodge.

Bessie leaves behind 2 sons, Terry Hodge (Pam) Of Mountain City, Tennessee and Gary Hodge of Nottingham Pennsylvania; 5 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and special friend, Francis Scheirer.

Bessie was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church for more than 40 years.  She was always  a hard worker and was employed at Mountain City Glove for 35 years.  She also enjoyed gardening, working crossword puzzles  and seeing friends at the Johnson County Senior  Center.

The funeral services for Bessie will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at 2 pm in the Charles B. Hux Chapel at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with Mike Penley and Tom Reece officiating.   The family will receive friends from 1 pm - 2 pm prior to the funeral service.  Graveside Service  and interment will immediately follow at The Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
