Bessie Lou Stanley Sluder: Ms. Bessie Lou Stanley Sluder, age 69, of 919 Medical Park Drive in Mountain City, Tennessee went to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 14, 2013 in the Mountain City Care Center. Bessie was a daughter of the late Alfred Stanley and Willie Mac Winters Stanley and in addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Sluder, also a daughter, Donna McQueen, and brother, William Donald "Bill" Stanley. Bessie was a member of the Ackerson Creek Church of Christ, and was an avid reader of her Bible, singing gospel songs and loved to crochet. She retired from T.R.W. of Damascus, VA. Survivors include three daughters: Wanda Floyd and husband, Darren, of Mountain City, TN, Mary Dowell and husband, Wes of Butler, TN, Sandra Bitter and husband, David, of Mountain City, TN. Five sisters: Bonnie Spencer of Mizzola, Montana, Mary Jane Cannon of Elkton, Maryland, Kay Roach of Mountain City, TN, Rose Prillman of Mountain City, TN and Shirley Vestal of Abingdon, VA. Two brothers: J.E. Stanley of Mountain City, TN, Paul Stanley of Granite Falls, NC and one brother in-law Bill Icenhour and wife Jan of Mountain City, TN. Nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and special friends Stella Morefield and Sheila Morris also survive. Funeral Services for Ms. Bessie Sluder will be conducted on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Ackerson Creek Church of Christ with Minister Herman Trivette to officiate. Burial will follow in the Johnson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2013 from the East Side Memory Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence of a daughter, Wanda Floyd, 137 Sleepy Hollow Road, Mountain City, TN 37683. Active pallbearers will be Danny Stout, Johnny Stout, Keith Stanley, Joseph Stanley, Thomas Stanley, Mark Kelly, Tony Walls, and Steve Icenhour. Honorary Pallbearers are the CNA's on the 200 Hall of Mountain City Care Center. The family wishes to express a special thanks to the entire staff of Mountain City Care Center.
