Bill Farmer

Billy Junior “Bill” Farmer, age 85 of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on August 1, 1938, to the late William A. and Myrtle Taylor Farmer of Mountain City, Tennessee.  In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn Farmer; siblings/spouses, Edgar Farmer/Blanche, Curtis Farmer/Velma, Pansy Willen/Wallace, Lovene Willen/Howard, Clay Farmer (wife Alees), Gaither Farmer, Pansy Farmer Willien, Esther Lowene Farmer Willen (husband Howard).

He is survived by his son Michael, grandson Trip, mother Lisa Farmer, granddaughter Emilyn, special nephew Tracy Farmer, and several additional nieces and nephews.

Bill loved telling crazy stories and jokes, bluegrass music, and UT football. He also enjoyed collecting and trading unique/antique automobiles and trips to Myrtle Beach, SC. Bill was probably best known for his successful roofing business of over 50 years. He and his wife, Evelyn, also made many charitable donations of time and resources to local agencies. Prior to his illness, he attended Community Church in Mountain City, Tn.

Funeral service for Bill will be held Sunday, January 28, 2024 at 2 pm at Community Church with Pastor Dean Visser and Pastor Ted Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 - 2 pm prior to the funeral. Burial will immediately follow at the Jennings Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Michael Farmer, Frankie Owens, Tracy Farmer, Dave Farmer, Homer Vanover, Ted Lewis and Ray Jennings. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Cornett and Randy Duffield.
