Jack was born May 16, 1946, one of four children born to Kermit Johnson and Elsie Lefler Johnson.

He passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at the age of 80.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mrs. Deloras Huskins Johnson, two daughters: Belinda Jolene Hudson (and husband Scott) and Jackie Renee Johnson, one grandson: Cordel Robert Kilgore, two granddaughters: Kathryn Scarlett Hudson and Victoria Rose Hudson, and his brother Michael L. Johnson.

Jack was a proud member of the Johnson County High School class of 1964.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army (1965–68) and served in Vietnam (1966–67) with the 1097th Transport Company (MB).

Jack was a retired truck driver, having driven over four million miles in his career, the last ten years of which he drove for RSV/Landstar during which he earned that company’s One Million Mile Accident Free safe driving award.

Jack was extremely proud of his work in the VFW, for which he earned many awards. He was a Charter and Life Member of Wordey Hall VFW Post 6908 in Mountain City, TN and was honored and humbled to have been elected Commander by the Veterans of that Post for three consecutive terms (2009–11). In 2012–13 and again in 2013–14 he was elected to the office of Commander, VFW District 1 (Department of TN) by the Veterans of the fourteen VFW Posts that at that time made up TN’s VFW District 1. Commander Johnson was the first Commander of TN-VFW District 1 to be elected to two consecutive terms since 1948 when VFW District 1 was organized and its first Commander was elected. He was also a Life Member of DAV Post 17 in Elizabethton, TN, and a former member of the Johnson County Honor Guard.

Jack was laid to rest with a private family service in the Lefler Family Cemetery with military honors accord by the Johnson County Honor Guard.
