Bobby Whaley, age 38, of 160 Howes Lanes, Butler, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday December 4, 2005 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital, Elizabethton, Tennessee, following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, Tennessee, he was born on June 8, 1967 to Bobby Whaley Sr. and the late Jean Dugger Winters. Prior to living in Johnson County, Bobby had made his home with James L. and Barbara Smith of Butler, Tennessee. In addition to his mother, Bobby was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Roseman and Dove Dugger and paternal grandparents, Ray and Dove Whaley. Bobby was a former construction worker for Paul Campbell. He enjoyed fishing, hiking and rock climbing. Bobby was of the Baptist Faith. He is survived by his wife, Lori (Fritts) Whaley of the home; one daughter, Katie Whaley; two sons: Cody Whaley and Johnathan Whaley, all of the home; his father and step-mother, Bob Whaley Sr. and Fannie of Butler, TN; one sister, Lisa Keylon, Elizabethton, TN; three brothers: Bobby Whaley Jr. of Hampton, TN, James Whaley and Jason Whaley, both of Butler, TN; several more brothers and sisters; special uncle, Luther Whaley; aunt, Linda Campbell; great aunts Retha Hatley and Lennice Bunton; special friend, Lynda Hatley of Butler, TN; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2005 from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Junior Dugger and Rev. Nick Bradshaw to officiate. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Ronnie Campbell. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2005 from the Whitehead Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Bobby Whaley Jr., James Whaley, Jason Whaley, Kevin Dugger, Michael Fritts, Kenny Clawson, George Davenport and Robert Fritts. Honorary Pallbearers are: Delmas Bunton, Mike Houser, Homer Clawson, Paul Campbell and Harold Hatley. Family, Pallbearers and Friends are asked to assemble by 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Cemetery for Services. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, prior to Services at the Funeral Home. At other times, friends may call at the residence, 160 Howes Lane, Butler, Tennessee 37640.
