Bonnie Mae Lewis, age 72, of Smyrna, Delaware, passed away at her residence with her family and friends by her side on Saturday, June 11, 2005. Mrs. Lewis was born on September 22, 1932 in Mountain City, Tennessee, the daughter of Della Payne Vanover of Mountain City and the late Winston Ferry Vanover. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Ann Vanover and a beloved friend, Jimmy Stripling. Mrs. Lewis was a machine operator for Wilmington Finishing Company for over 20 years before retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Middletown Baptist Church of Middletown, Delaware. She loved cardinals and gardening and was an avid coin and antique collector. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Lewis is survived by her husband, Robert J.T. Lewis; one son, James T. Lewis and his wife, Roxanne of Smyrna; three daughters: Peggy Reed and her husband, Dean of Bear, Delaware, Lois Lewis of Newark, Delaware and Linda Bower and her husband Dave of Elkton, Maryland; four brothers: R.B. Vanover, Ralph Vanover, both of Mountain City, Tennessee, Jay Vanover of Meadowview, Virginia and Robert Vanover of Lenoir, North Carolina; six sisters: Vedie Pope, Lois Cox, both of Creston, North Carolina, Lorene Embert of Newark, Delaware, Ruth Borror, Ferry Roark and Ruby Oliver, all of Mountain City, Tennessee; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mrs. Lewis will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2005 from the Hux-Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel, Mountain City, Tennessee, with Mr. Eddie Porter to officiate. Graveside Services will follow from the Payne Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends of Mrs. Lewis. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 from the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street, Smyrna, Delaware and on Friday, June 17, 2005 from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to Funeral Services, at the Hux-Tetrick Funeral Home, 300 W. Main Street, Mountain City, Tennessee. Hux-Tetrick Funeral Home of Mountain City, Tennessee and Faries Funeral Chapel of Smyrna, Delaware are serving the Lewis Family.
