Mrs. Brenda Lee Blevins Poe, age 65, entered her heavenly home on January 31, 2025. She was surrounded by her family and friends. Brenda was born April 24, 1959, in West Grove, Pennsylvania to Edward and Betty Mahaffey Blevins.
Brenda met the love of her life, Dennis Ray Poe, while visiting family in North Carolina, and they were married on October 16, 1976. The couple eventually settled in North Carolina. Brenda enjoyed crocheting, thrifting, cooking, attending church services, and spending time with her friends and family. Brenda worked in manufacturing and various other roles, but maintaining her home, family, and relationship with her savior was her passion. She professed her salvation and belief in a risen, living savior at a young age. Her hope and faith in Christ were evidenced by her daily walk with Him. Her faith proved to be the foundation for her family. God called her husband to pastor and Brenda accompanied him as his support and constant companion.
Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Edward Blevins; her paternal grandparents Arthur Gilley and Lucreatia Black Gilley; maternal grandparents Coy Mahaffey and Lizzy Hodgson Mahaffey; her mother and father in-law, Ray Poe and Virginia Warren Poe; and nephew Joshua Houck.
She is survived by her loving husband, Reverend Dennis Ray Poe of Lansing, North Carolina; son, Reverend Gregory Edward Ray Poe (Rena) of Mountain City, Tennessee; daughter, Crystal Dawn Poe Childers (James) of Lawndale, North Carolina; daughter, Vanessa Campbell of Lansing, North Carolina; grandsons, Jordan (Morgan) and Taylor-James, granddaughters Abbigail (Kevin), Madison, Makenzie, Nataleigh, Trinity, Gracie. Her mother, Betty Mahaffey Blevins of West Grove, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Roger Blevins and Michael Blevins (Martha) both of West Grove, Pennsylvania; three sisters Sherry Sperratore (Rob) and Vickie Houck (Brian) both of Oxford, Pennsylvania, Wendy Blevins Webb (Jerry) of West Grove, Pennsylvania; two brother-in-laws, Tim Poe of Lansing, North Carolina and Johnny Poe of Jefferson, North Carolina; and two sister-in-laws, Sue Barker of Lansing, North Carolina and Dianne Guy of Crumpler, North Carolina. Brenda is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She is also survived by a lifelong friend, Annette Dougherty (Gary).
The family would like to extend thanks and appreciation for the outpouring of love, prayers, and assistance through this most difficult time. The family is gathering at the home of her son, Rev. Greg Poe, at 336 Hemlock Street, Mountain City, TN.
The family will receive friends Thursday February 6, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at First Freewill Baptist Church in Mountain City, TN with funeral services at First Freewill Baptist Church Friday February 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dennis Blevins and Reverend Greg Poe officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Mountain City, TN following the funeral services.
