Bud Potter

Bud Potter, age 69, of 1645 Bunton Town Road, Butler, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on September 1, 2004 at the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Johnson County, he was born on March 17, 1935 to the late Phillip and Mary Campbell-Potter. In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Ruth Whaley Potter, a sister, Montine Clawson and a brother, Charles Potter. He was a retired, self-employed dozer operator. Bud was a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church. Bud is survived by his stepmother, Doris Potter of Mountain City; one son, Lester Potter of Marian, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law, Truman and Edith Potter of Mountain City; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Elouise and Paul Fletcher, Evelyn and Jesse Cable, all of Butler, Tennessee, Jeanette and Rev. Ray Green of Vilas, North Carolina and Roetta and Ronald Harmon of Boone, North Carolina. A special sister-in-law, Retha Hatley of Butler, Tennessee and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for Bud will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 4, 2004 from the Sugar Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Greene and Rev. Doug Ranshaw to officiate. Music will be provided by the Sugar Grove Church Choir. Interment will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Larry Shoun, Taylor Farthing, Earl Dugger, Steve Gregg, Joe Clawson, Kevin Potter, Myron Harmon and Harold Hatley. Honorary Pallbearers are: Raymond Campbell, Jack Campbell, Delmas Bunton, Charles Fletcher, George Shoun, Thurston Gregg, Paul Fletcher, Mack Holloway, Dr. Cole, Dr. Kohn, all of Bud's cousins and the Nursing Staff of 2nd and 3rd Floors of the Johnson City Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 p.m. Friday, September 3, 2004 at the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel. At other times, family will receive friends at the residence of Bud's Sister, Evelyn Cable, 818 Greggs Branch Road, Butler, Tennessee.
