Carl David Daye Sr., born on June 24, 1948, in Green Cove, Virginia, passed away on July 19, 2025, at Signature Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Elizabethton, Tennessee. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend who touched the lives of many throughout his journey.
Carl dedicated a significant portion of his life to his career as an over the road truck driver, a role that took him across the nation and showcased his strong work ethic. His commitment to serving his country was evident, having served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Carl had a wide array of hobbies that showcased his zest for life. He was an ardent NASCAR fan, with his favorite race car driver being, Ernie Irvan. He found joy in riding four-wheelers and Harley Davidson motorcycles, and he was an active member of the motorpool, where his passion for vehicles was strong.
Carl is survived by his bonus daughter, Mary Bays; his son, Carl D. Daye Jr. (Trish); his beloved sisters, Patty Harris and Angie Sifford (Roy); and his cherished grandchildren: Kimmy Carlson, Cody Carlson, Christie Swift, Emily Ibarra, Alexa and Austin Bradley, Kayla Freeman (Garrett), Katlie Armes, and Adesia Armes. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren, a son-in-law, Angel Ibarra, and numerous nieces and nephews, along with special friends Jeffery and Cindy Pass, Patsy Gentry, and Monica Burgess.
Carl was predeceased by his parents, Billy Joe Lambert and Irene Daye Lambert; his daughters, Lisa Swift and Susan Ibarra; his granddaughter, Eden Rayne Daye; and his sister, Susan A. Miller.
A memorial service for Carl will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home, The family will receive freinds from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM prior to the service. Military honors will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard.
