Carl Grindstaff Jr., age 59, of 233 Pedro Shoun Lane, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2005 at his residence following a brief illness. A native of Johnson County, Tennessee, he was born September 3, 1945 to the late Jady Carl and Anna Clara Shoun Grindstaff. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles. Junior had been a truck driver for 41 years and was currently employed by McGriff Transportation of Alabama. He was a member of the Roan Creek Masonic Lodge #679, Order of the Eastern Star #218 and a member of the Rock Springs Baptist Church. Junior is survived by his wife, Novella K. Grindstaff, of the home; one son, Jim Grindstaff of Johnson City, Tn; two grandchildren: Whitley and Zachary Grindstaff; one brother, Samuel Grindstaff and wife Barbara of Hampton, Tn; two nephews: Mark and Joshua Grindstaff, both of Elizabethton, Tn; one aunt, Ruth Little of Kennett Square, PA; one uncle, Eugene Shoun of Mountain City, Tn; special friends, Junior and Reba Potter of Butler, Tn and many more special friends, too numerous to list. Funeral Services for Junior will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2005 from the Hux-Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dennis Wilson and Rev. Mike Swift to officiate. Masonic Memorial Services will follow and will be accorded by the Roan Creek Masonic Lodge #679 Free and Accepted Masons. Music will be under the direction of Southern Cross. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2005 from the Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Junior Potter, Wallace "Bum" Stout, David Pleasant, Boyd Pardue, Earl Atwood and Jimmy Griffey. Honorary Pallbearers are: Charlie Stansberry, Elwood Arnold, Bobby Matheson, Herbert Hampton, Terry Gregg and Members of the Roan Creek Masonic Lodge #679. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, prior to Services, at the Funeral Home Chapel.
