Carl Spencer Phillippi

Carl Spencer Phillippi, age 93, of 2676 Highway 421 North, Mountain City passed away Sunday, June 8, 2008 in the Mountain City Care Center following an extended illness. Mr. Phillippi was a native of Johnson County and was a son of the late John and Nora Shupe Phillippi, in addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Barbara Jean Brown and a son Johnnie Phillippi., also by two sisters Hassie McQueen and Bess Chamblee and four brothers, Raymond Phillippi, Lon Phillippi , Henry Phillippi and Elmer Phillippi. Mr. Phillippi was a mail carrier for 25 years and a life long farmer. He was on the Board of Directors for Johnson County Mutual Fire Insurance, a Member of the Liberty Chrisitian Church but attended the First Christian Church. Survivors Include his wife of 72 years, Maude Eggers Phillippi of the Home One daughter and her Husband, Jane and Steve Saddler A Special Niece: Elizabeth Stout of Mountain City Two grandchildren: Sharon Burnette and Deborah Brown Seven Great Grandchildren and Two Great Great Grandchildren Special Cat: Chessie Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, June 11, 2008 from the Chapel of the Henson Funeral Home with Mr. Jim Hutchinson and Mr. Ken Caswell to officiate. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Fred Ramsey. Graveside services and Burial will follow in the Phillippi Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Offie Hayworth, Kevin Hayworth, Chuck Jenkins and Jimmy Miller. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Blaine Stout, Howard Smith, Dr. John Whitlock, Roby Howard Jr. and Directors of Johnson County Mutual Fire Insurance Company. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:00 p. m. Wednesday form the Funeral Home Chapel prior the services and other times friends may call at the family residence, 2676 Highway 421 North, Mountain City at anytime. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Phillippi Cemetery Fund % of Gail Fenner, 2352 Highway 421 North, Mountain City, TN. 37683.
