Carl South Obituary Mr. Johnny Carl South, better known as “Carl”, age 92, of Warrensville passed away Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Minster David Lyalls and Rev. James Simons officiating. Carl will be laid to rest in the Black & Woods Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Thursday, January 23, 2025; one hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. South Was born in Ashe County on September 10, 1932 to the late David Andrew and Susie Bell Severt South. He retired from Vannoy’s Construction, after working 30+ years. Carl was a hard-working man and loved is family dearly. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Woods South; a son, Johnny Columbus South; two daughters, Carlene Johnson and Tena Barker; a granddaughter, Andrea Johnson; five brothers, Roy, Rob, Lynn, Earl and Wade South; two sisters, Goldie South and Margaret Witherspoon. Mr. South is survived by: two sons, Danny South and Mickey South, both of Warrensville; three daughters, Cris Taylor and husband, Bobby, of Mountain City, TN, Jane Weaver, of Warrensville and Donna Holman and husband, Tim, of Lansing; a sister, Juanita Testerman, of Lansing; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; several nieces and nephews also survive.Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the family, c/o Boone Family Funeral Home, PO Box 786, West Jefferson, NC 28694 or on our website www.boonefuneralhome.com.
