Carol Dean Phillips

Carol Dean Phillips, age 78, of 1440 Coy Hamm Road, Lansing, North Carolina passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016 at his residence. He was born May 6, 1937 to the late Ed Phillips and Vestie Pennington Phillips. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Loisteen Phillips. He attended Gillespie Community Church. He served as deacon of the church in 2002. He enjoyed woodworking and writing songs and poetry.

He is survived by one daughter: Gyween Barefield and husband David of Kirbyville, TX, one son, Billy Phillips and wife Amanda of Lansing, NC, two grandchildren: Chelsie Ozan and Brian Phillips both of Lansing, NC, and special friend, Jim Farmer. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2016 from the Gillespie Community Church with Rev. Jim Frances officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 6:00 p.m-8:00 p.m. from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends including Brian Phillips and Brent Ozan.
