Carole "Mom" Porter, age 89, of 120 Canterforks Road, Trade, Tenn. went Home to be with The Lord, Saturday, October 11, 2003 at her residence following a lengthly illness. She was A native of Colburn, Virginia but had made her Home in Johnson County most of her life, She Was born February 19, 1914 to the late Willet and Ellie Wilson Canter. She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Porter, a son, William "Buddy" Porter, Daughter, Helen L. Shull, (2) Sisters, Ruby Canter and Lettie Miller, Granddaughter, Joe Ella Dixon, (2) Grandsons, David M. Dixon and Jackie J. Porter and a Great Grandson, Michael Edward Dixon. She loved to Crochet and work in her flower garden and was a Member of the Evergreen Baptist Church. Survivors: (4) Daughters: Phyliss Pennington, Mountain City Kaye Isaacs, Lenoir, N. C. Carolyn Harralson, Woodstock, Georgia Nancy Price, Lenoir, N. C. (5) Sons: Dallas Porter, Mountain City Alden "Sonny" Porter, Trade, Tenn. Harry Porter, Ellenwood, Georgia Billy Porter, of the Home Ed Porter, Shady Valley, Tenn. (2) Sisters: Billie Reece Proffitt, Trade, Tenn.
