Cecil Combs

  Cecil Lowell Combs, age 71, passed away on December 24, 2018. Cecil was born on June 18, 1947 to the late James and Kathrine Combs. Cecil is also preceded in death by one brother, Homer Combs.  Cecil was a musician, he loved visiting and playing music for the elderly of the community and residents of the local nursing homes. He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and NASCAR (Richard Petty was his favorite driver). He also enjoyed pitching horseshoes and won several trophies. Cecil was a member of the Cove Creek Baptist Church. Those left to cherish Cecil’s memory include his wife, Brenda Grogan Combs of the home; one daughter, Brandy Grogan and husband, Brandon May of Trade, TN; one son, James Combs of Zionville, NC; three sisters: Carolyn Watson of Zionville, NC, Earlene Roark and Russell of Creston, NC, Nancy Reece and Richard of Trade, TN; grandchildren: Harleah Grogan, Kelsey Cornett, Devin Cornett, Desirae Cornett, Brandon May Jr, and Eleanor May. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Cecil had many special friends including; Junior Pope and Tom Oliver. The funeral service for Mr. Combs will be held Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel at 3:00 pm with Reverend Derek Wilson and Dwayne Tester to officiate. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Graveside services will follow the funeral service at the Union Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Devin Cornett, Junior Pope, Mike Reece, RC Pardue, Brandon May and Dale Watson. Honorary pallbearers: Tom Oliver, Richard Reece and Earnest Combs. In lieu of flowers, donations may be provided to help with funeral expenses.  Professional services are being provided by Hux & Lipford Funeral Home.
