Charles N. Carlson, age 87, of 924 Medical Park Drive, Mountain City, Tennessee passed away Thursday, July 17, 2008 at his residence after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Charles Sirene Carlson and Anna levitski Carlson. Mr. Crlson was a native of London Grove, PA but had lived and worked in Kennett Square, Pa until moving to Tennessee in 1995.Charles was an avid baseball enthusiast and his hobbies included fishing, playing the guuitar, reading his Bible and supported The Gospel Hour. Mr. Carlson was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II where he received four Bronze Stars and multiple other medals. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Eller, and one brother, George Carlson.
Survivors include: two daughters: Daphne Meadows of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee and Sandra Pack of Bristol, Virginia; three sons: Steven Carlson , Mark Carlson, and Doyle Carlson, all of Mountain City, Tennessee; two sisters: Agnes Corkadel of Oxford, Pennsylvania and Dorothy Eller of Creston, North Carolina; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Special friends Helen, Tom, Patti and Shannah also survive.
Funeral services for Charles N. Carlson will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Stidham officiating. Military graveside services will follow the services in Wesley Chapel Cemetery accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be member of the Johnson County Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jim Shine, Ryan Meadows, Cory Meadows, Megan Pack, Keri Guy, Robbie Carlson, Cody Carlson and Kimberly Carlson.
