Charles E. "Charlie" Morefield, age 80, of 368 Dry Branch Road, Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee passed away November 19, 2003 at the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. A native of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, he was born February 05, 1923 to the late Floyd Elmer and Lucy Ellen Abel Morefield. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers; Orville, Marvin, Bob and Homer Morefield and one sister; Mary Morefield. Charlie was a retired farmer and brick mason and enjoyed reading and history. He was a United States Veteran having served for the United States Marine Corp during World War II in the South Pacific and the United States Army in Europe. Charlie is survived by one sister; Ruth Martin of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, four brothers; Sam Morefield, Jim Morefield, Scott Morefield and Paul Morefield, all of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Charles E. "Charlie" Morefield will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2003 from the Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Derl McCloud to officiate. Family will receive friends 7-8:00 p.m. prior to services. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by the Johnson County Honor Guard 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2003 from the State Line Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Ricky Morefield, Ralph Morefield, John Morefield, Mike Morefield, Peanut Morefield, Charles Martin, Randy Eller and Richard Blankenship. Friends may also call the residence of his sister Ruth Martin, 3415 Sugar Creek Road, Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee.
