View This Video Tribute Preacher Charles G. Fletcher, age 72, of 1458 Little Dry Run Road, Butler, TN went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 8
th, 2009 from the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Charles was born October 3, 1937 to the late Henry and Belva Cardwell Fletcher. He was a member of the Dyson Grove Baptist Church, Butler, TN. He attended The Midway Elementary. He was known to his friends and neighbors as a hard working man. He worked at Burlington and also for The Maymead, Inc. He also has been the pastor of three churches: Dyson Grove Baptist Church, Butler, TN; Corinth Baptist Church, Mountain City, TN; and the Brushy Fork Baptist Church. He was a member of the gospel group “The Fletcher Family” for the past 24 years.
Brother Charles loved his family and his church and enjoyed both tremendously. His love of God’s Word led to many hours of Bible study and a true desire to share the gospel. He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and the Dallas Cowboys. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and making them laugh. He will be missed by so many.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers: Rev. Carroll Fletcher and Walter Fletcher; sister Dorothy Potter and husband Loyd; sister Mavis Rainbolt and husband Ken; and brother-in-law Howard Bradley.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Norman Jean Hamby Fletcher; three daughters: Vickie Price and husband Jerold of Mountain City, TN; Tammy Dugger and husband Mike and Tina Yarber and husband John, all of Butler, TN; one son: Pastor Leonard Fletcher and wife Linda of Mountain City, TN; six grandchildren: Brittany Fletcher, Ryan Fletcher and wife Kacey, Cole Yarber, Cara Yarber, Hannah Courtner and Hayden Dugger; one brother, Paul Fletcher and wife Eloise of Butler, TN; three sisters: Annie Bradley, Winnie Phillips and husband Earl, all of Butler, TN and Mary Lee Potter and husband Dwight of Gray, TN; one sister-in-law, Coleen Fletcher, of Mountain City, TN. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and also by a special family member, Paul Head, of Mountain City, TN.
Services for Preacher Charles Fletcher will be conducted Friday, December 11, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. at Dyson Grove Baptist Church by Pastor Dean Presnell and Pastor Leonard Fletcher. Music will be under the direction of The Fletcher Family, Allen and Sharron Yates and the church choir. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Burial will be Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fletcher Cemetery, Little Dry Run Road, Butler, TN. Active pallbearers will be grandsons Ryan Fletcher, Cole Yarber and Hayden Dugger, Bro. Billy Wilson, Bro. Tony Walls, Bro. James “Bud” Mahaffey, Bro. Dean Fletcher, Brother Keith Brown, Bro. Mike Fenner and Bro. Randall Fletcher. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Dyson Grove Baptist Church and all his preacher friends.
