Charles R. Meyers, age 89, of 3350 Teaberry Rd, Lansing N.C. passed away on October 9th, 2015 at his home with his family. Charles was devoted to his family and friends. He was a kindhearted, selfless and gentle man that was dearly loved by all. He was a long time member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. His generosity, compassion and love towards others was a direct reflection of his deep faith. He had a great love for sports and the outdoors including fishing and Michigan Wolverine football. His career in criminal justice spanned 60 years; 25 years with the Michigan State Police, 12 years with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and spent 5 years teaching as a college professor. Since 1989 he had served as an independent consultant, he has written 4 books and lectured extensively regarding Forensic Science. Charles was very active in many professional groups including Emeritus and Past-President member of the Association of Firearms and Tool Mark Examiners. He was a retired fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and a Kentucky Colonel. He also served our country in both WWII and the Korean War. Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife Nancy and a daughter Robin. He is survived by one son Kurt Meyers and his spouse Christine. He is survived by 3 daughters Kathy Meyers, Kim Myers and her spouse James, and Kelly Meyers and her spouse Mike. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Chelsea Meyers, Lindsey Meyers, Michael McKiernan, Joey McKiernan and his spouse Heather, Thomas McKiernan and his spouse Nicole. He had 4 great-grandchildren Dane, Conner, Haley and Ashlyn. Memorial service will be conducted at St. Anthony's of Padua Catholic Church in Mountain City, TN on Wednesday October 14, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. Inurnment will be held at 6:00 p.m. following the services, from the Reece Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either St Anthony's Bread. Local arrangements for the Meyers family are in the care of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home.
