Charlie W. Jones

Charlie W. Jones, age, 70, of 480 Furnace Creek Road, Mountain City, TN, passed away, February 20, 2004 in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Mountain Home after an extended illness. A native of Ashe County, NC, he was born February 22, 1933 to the late John and Sara Curd Jones. He was a former employee of Burlington and Timberland and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Jones was an Army Veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Henry Jones and a sister, Pearl Hash. Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Margaret Smith Jones of the home; a daughter, Angie Howell of Ashe County, NC; two sons: Mark Jones of the home and Jim Jones of Gray, TN; two sisters: Ruth Dickerson of Maryland and Nellie Wyatt of Lexington, NC; a brother, Emmitt Jones of Tuson, Arizona; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Military graveside services will be held at 11 a. m. Tuesday from the Phillippi Cemetery accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Friends may call at the residence, at 480 Furnace Creek Road, Mountain City, Tennessee at anytime. Family and friends are asked to meet at Hux-Lipford Funeral Home at 10 a. m.
