Christene Fletcher

Christene “Mamaw” Fletcher, 76, of 1849 Spear Branch Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019.  Christene was born in Mountain City, TN on January 10, 1942, to Bessie Maude Gentry.  Christene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl White, and her daughter Peggy Carver.   Christene was a homemaker for most of her life but was a former employee of Hardees in Mountain City, Mountain City Care and Rehabilitation Center, and Blowing Rock Hospital.  Christene enjoyed spending time and playing with her grandchildren and her dog.  Christene had a special love for her friends and all children.  Christene was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Mountain City, TN. Those left to cherish the memory of Christene are her daughters Ruth Smith and husband Dave of Mt. City, Pam Buchanan and husband Dana of Jonesborough, TN, Carlis White, Elizabethton Tn. and Debbie Ward and husband Arthur of North Carolina.   And a son Charlie White of Mountain City; sisters Georgia Isaac and Joy Ann Gentry; brothers Jim, Frankie, Peanut, and Ed Gentry; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Services for Christene Fletcher will be held at 7pm on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, in the Hux & Lipford Charles B Hux Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6pm – 7pm prior to service.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Christene’s grandsons.
