Clois Celia Cordell

Clois Celia Cordell, age 90, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away on April 30, 2026, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was born on July 25, 1935, in Flat Springs, North Carolina to the late Andrew and Bessi Guy. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Cordell; her son, Gregory Cordell; daughters Brenda and Mary; and several brothers and sisters. 

For many years, Clois dedicated herself to the compassionate work of caregiving, touching countless lives through her kindness and unwavering support. Beyond her professional role, she was a vibrant soul who found joy and fulfillment in her passions. A talented member of a gospel band, she expressed her faith and love for music with heartfelt performances. Clois also delighted in cooking and crocheting, activities through which she nurtured her family and shared her warmth. She was a member of King Springs Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her granddaughter, Smantha Wilson; great-grandchildren Deidra McIntosh, Brittany Wilson, Amber Reece, Dalton Reece, and Tyler Reece; and great-great-grandchildren Zoey, Journey, Ava, Amelia, Aiden, and Athena and special friends Patricia Patterson and John Vincent.

A funeral service for Clois will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednseday, May 6, 2026 at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm prior to the funeral service.  A graveside service will follow in the Flat Springs Cemetery in Elk Park, North Carolina.
