Mr. Clyde McElyea, age 75, of Mountain City, Tennessee passed away Monday, July 13, 2009 in Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness. He was the son of the late Bob McElyea and Mary Proffitt McElyea. Mr. McElyea attended Wesley Chapel Methodist Church. Clyde was a simple man who enjoyed life and never complained. He especially loved trout fishing and talking to people. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Stacy McElyea, Carl McElyea and Ed McElyea.
Survivors include: several nieces and nephews: Janet Ashley, Judy McElyea, Deborah Lavander and husband “Gab”, Marilyn McElyea, Gary McElyea, Len McElyea and wife Debbie, all of Sevierville, Tennessee and Rick McElyea and wife Karen of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee; special friend, Ken Phipps, and many other. Clyde never met a stranger.
Funeral services for Clyde McElyea will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2009 from the Eastside Memory Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Mr. Ken Phipps officiating. Pallbearers will be friends and family. Graveside service and interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the funeral service.
