Columbus "Sonny" Jennings, age 61, of 386 Forge Creek Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at his residence. A native of Butler, Tennessee, he was born on April 6, 1943 to the late Clyde and Mabel Cornett Jennings. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Jennings, who passed away in 1996 and two brothers, Howard and Ralph Jennings. Sonny is survived by two daughters, Lisa Reece and Rhonda Hilton, both of Mountain City; four sons, Sonny Jennings (Rose), Sam Jennings, John Jennings, all of Mountain City and Tom Jennings (Pam) of Lenoir, North Carolina; three sisters, Evelyn Farmer, Verleen Martin, both of Mountain City and Nora Mae Swift of Sherman, Texas; nine brothers, Tony Jennings, Butch Jennings, Perry Jennings, Barney Jennings, Ben Jennings, Oscar Jennings, all of Mountain City, Jim Jennings of Florida, Dewey Jennings of West Grove, PA, Jeter Jennings of Cherry Hill, MD; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Sonny will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2004 from the Hux-Lipford Fuenral Home Chapel with Rev. Rector Henson and Mr. Anthony Roark to officiate. Graveside Services and Interment will follow from the Jennings Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Charlie Jennings, Mack Jennings, Gary McElyea, Ray Jennings, Moses Jennings and Bo Jennings. Honorary Pallbearers are: Randy Jennings, Tony Helton and Hospice. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. Saturday, prior to Services at the Funeral Home Chapel. At other times, friends may call at the residence, 386 Forge Creek Road, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
