Corena Snyder

Corena Chelcie Snyder, 92, passed away Wednesday December 18, 2024 at her residence in Creston. She was born on January 24, 1932 to the late Rayburn Snyder and Ethel Price Snyder. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her beloved husband Howard Snyder Sr., her brother Darrell Snyder, and two sisters Doll Snyder Parker, and Betty Snyder Howard.

Corena was born and raised in Zionville and lived in Creston for most of her life except for a short period of time when her husband found work in Delaware so she, her husband, and young son resided there until they moved back home to take care of elderly family members. Corena later worked as a supervisor at United Chemi-Con (Sprague) for many years where she made lifelong friendships and eventually retired from. Before his passing, Corena loved spending time with her husband Howard Sr. and working on the family farm with their son Howard Jr.. She always enjoyed having family and friends around and she loved going out to eat, especially if it was seafood. One of her favorite pastimes was driving, she loved getting out to sightsee. She also enjoyed shopping, she kept a large variety of clothes, shoes, jewelry, and makeup.

Corena is survived by her son Howard Snyder Jr. and his wife Kathy of Creston. Three granddaughters Tracy Snyder Kilby (Tracy) of Jefferson, Tammy Snyder of Roanoke, Jessica Snyder (Bryan) of Creston. Five great grandchildren Gregory Spencer (Joy) of Lansing, Savannah Snyder Miller (Jordan) of Creston, Tanner Kilby of Jefferson, Taryn Kilby of Jefferson, and Chloe Snyder of Creston. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Corena will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024 in The Charles B. Hux Chapel at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with James Henson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.  A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens in Jefferson, North Carolina.
