Crathie Proffitt

Crathie Proffitt, age 92, of 1147 Ferebee Avenue, Chesapeake, Virginia passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2003 at her residence. She was a native of Johnson County, Tennessee and was born on June 9, 1910 to the late Brownlowe and Mary Greer Blackburn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison L. Proffitt in 1967, and a son, Charles Proffitt. She enjoyed cooking, quilting gardening and sewing Mrs. Proffitt was a member of the Cobbs Creek Baptist Church. Survivors: Two Daughters: Bertha Scott, of Liveoak, Florida Sue Raykowitz, of Bristol, Tennessee Six Sons: Coy Proffitt, of Mountain City, Tennessee Ricky Proffitt, of Chesapeake, Virginia Dorsey Proffitt, of Butler, Tennessee Russell Proffitt, of Chesapeake, Virginia Marvin Proffitt, of Butler, Tennessee Hantford Proffitt, of Chesapeake, Virginia Four Sisters: Christine Harmon, of Elizabethton, Tennessee Georgia Greer, of Mountain City, Tennessee Lexie Blackburn, of Johnson City, Tennessee Antlee Day, of Elizabethton, Tennessee Two Brothers: Carl Blackburn, of Butler, Tennessee W. A. Blackburn, of Butler,Tennessee Several Grandchildren Several Great Grandchildren Several Great Great Grandchildren Several Great Great Great Grandchildren Several Nieces and Nephews Henson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Funeral services for Crathie Proffitt will be conducted 2:00 P. M., Monday, March 17, 2003 from Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Norris to officiate. Burial will follow in the Reece Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jack Proffitt, Greg Proffitt, Tim Proffitt, Wayne Scott, Jeremiah Underwood, and Ethan Proffitt. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 P. M. Sunday, March 16, 2003 at the Chapel of the Henson Funeral Home or at the residence of a son, Coy Proffitt, 2015 Cold Springs Road, Mountain City, Tennessee anytime.
