Dannie E. Dunn

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our dear friend, Dannie E. Dunn, age 70, on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at the Johnson County Community Hospital. Dannie was born November 14th, 1953, in Abingdon, Va. to the late Ray Dunn and Wanetta Stewart Dunn.

Dannie was a 1972 Graduate of Johnson County High School, and a member of the Southside Freewill Baptist Church. He loved Harley Davidson Motorcycles and had ridden many trips to bike week with his friends. He enjoyed old cars, eating and fellowshipping with his friends. On Friday nights, you would most likely see him at the cruise in on main street.

Dannie was a free spirit, who was loved by many.  He never met a stranger and loved living life.  He was a Charter member of The Johnson County Knights and a member of Patriot Guard Riders of East Tennessee.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, April Ward (Lester); sister, Connie Lawson; brother, Berrey Dunn (Trish); nieces, Tonya Baird and Cayla Collier; nephew Jonah Dunn (Mindy); great nieces, Aubrie Baird and Ellie Dunn; great nephew, Derek Baird; special cousins, Linda Neil and Ethel Zeiliger and his many friends also survive.

A funeral service for Dannie will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 28, 2024 in The Charles B. Hux Chapel at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with Bubba Cannon officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm prior to the service.  Graveside service will immediately follow at The Reece Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be The Johnson County Knights.

Honorary pallbearers are The Patriot Guard Riders of East Tennessee and all other riders.

Anyone wishing to ride their motorcycle in memory of Dannie is asked to assemble at the Funeral Home by 2:45 pm to help in escorting him to the cemetery.
